Directions to Merrill Auditorium 

  • From I-295 in Maine, take exit 7 (Franklin Street)
  • Once on Franklin Street, go to the fourth traffic light and turn right onto Congress Street
  • Parking is available for a nominal fee at "Central Parking Services" on the corner of Congress and Pearl Streets (this lot offers some accessible parking spaces) and at the "Top of the Old Port" on Pearl Street (your 1st right off of Congress)
  • Merrill Auditorium/City Hall is one block from the parking lots on Myrtle Street

The entrance to Merrill Auditorium is about one fourth the way down Myrtle Street, on the left side. The box office is located just inside the main entrance. If you are attending an event at the Rehearsal Hall, you'll need to enter by a different door farther towards the bottom of Myrtle Street.

From Northern New Hampshire and Western Maine

  • Take US-302 into Portland. US-302 turns into Forest Avenue
  • Continue on Forest Avenue until it ends at the intersection with Congress Street
  • Turn left onto Congress Street and continue until you see City Hall on the left side of the street
  • Turn left onto Myrtle Street immediately after City Hall

  • From I-95 North and South take exit 45 (RTE 1/ SOUTH PORTLAND) Follow to Rte 1.
  • Turn left onto Rte 1 North at the traffic light, go through 2 traffic lights.
  • At the third light (MEINEKE MUFFLER on RT) Bear Right onto Broadway. Keep in the right lane.
  • At the second traffic light bear Right onto Evans Street (Amato's Sub Shop is straight ahead).
  • About ¾ of a mile up the street at the crest of a small hill is the South Portland Community Center on the left, just after that is Nelson Road. Turn left there and drive toward the football field. 
  • Parking is in the lot on the left. The South Portland Auditorium is at the top of the hill to the right.

THE ABROMSON CENTER & Hannaford Hall at USM - 88 Bedford Street, Portland, ME  04101

  • From I-295, take exit 6B ( Forest Avenue North) in Portland. Off the exit, immediately move to the far left lane on Forest Avenue to prepare for a left turn at the first stoplight (intersection of Forest Avenue and Bedford Street). Turn left onto Bedford Street at the stoplight and continue underneath the USM Alumni Skywalk. Immediately after the Skywalk, turn left onto Surrenden Street and continue into the USM Parking Garage.

  • If approaching the campus from Brighton Avenue, follow Brighton Avenue towards downtown until it turns into Bedford Street. Turn right onto Surrenden Street immediately before the USM Alumni Skywalk, and continue into the USM Parking Garage.

  • Parking:   It’s easy and it's free!  Take a parking ticket when you enter the garage and have it stamped by Continuing Education staff.  When you leave, present it for validation at the parking office on the lower level of the garage.

Directions to 14 Ocean Gateway Pier, Portland, Maine 04101:

  •  From I-295, take EXIT 7 (Franklin Street).
  • On Franklin Street, go to the 7th traffic light and turn LEFT onto Commercial Street.
  • Continue STRAIGHT through the stop sign at India Streets (Commercial becomes Thames Street).
  • For parking at the Ocean Gateway Garage (167 Fore Street, Portland, ME 04101):  At next stop sign, turn LEFT onto Hancock Street. (Look to the right to see the Ocean Gateway Pier - building with clock tower. This is where you'll board the train).
  • At next stop sign, turn LEFT onto Fore Street. Entrance to garage is on the right (alternate entrance for garage around the block on the opposite side of the building - Middle Street). Fee for parking.

  • turn LEFT at Rand Road
  • continue onto ME-25 W/Westbrook Arterial
